Born Free American Retreats: A Sanctuary for Reconnection and Resilience
Our retreats project is designed as dedicated spaces where military personnel can decompress before returning home to their families. While these retreats are not exclusive to military, they are about creating an environment for those who serve to be surrounded by others who have been through the same experiences and can relate to the preparations needed to let the soldier take off the uniform and rest, while the civilian goes home to the people they love and who love them. The centerpiece of each retreat is a large main building for communal dining and gatherings, complete with fully equipped kitchens and event facilities. Additional buildings include an administration center, a medical facility, and outer structures for equipment and food storage. Around this central hub, we will construct 30 to 50 cabins, each comfortably housing a family of four.
Built with sustainability in mind, every retreat will be fully self-sufficient and generating its own electricity, providing clean drinking water, and utilizing irrigation systems to support on-site food production. As we build and grow, we will use videos and podcasts to document the process and report back to the American people on how the money is spent and the progress we are making together.
The facilities will also have a secondary function in times of crisis. In situations such as war, pandemics, food shortages, or natural disasters, our retreats will have a stockpile of supplies and equipment necessary to help serve and protect the surrounding community until the crisis is over. Due to the location of our facilities, we may be the only people in the area able to help should a local emergency arise; in such cases, we will do what we can to help our fellow Americans.
